by Colorado College. Dept. of Music.

Media Files

The Colorado College Collegium Musicum directed by Nancy Ekberg Tynan; Frank Shelton, accompanist; Dale Miller, guitarist. Program divided into five parts: I. Medieval and Renaissance dances -- II. Early American folk hymns and songs -- III. Playful Playford dance tunes from "The Dancing Master" -- IV. Guitar solo by Dale Miller -- V. Dances from "The Dancing Master."

Collegium Musicum is Colorado College's "old music" ensemble, focusing on classical and dance music from the Renaissance and later. Collegium performs on instruments contemporary to the eras being studied, giving students the opportunity to learn recorders, frame drums, viols and more. The group performs many of its own arrangements, and students play a role in the process of re-creating music that, despite its great age, is not forgotten.
