In April of 2013, Colorado College hosted a momentous entrepreneurial event for its students. The Big Idea was a pitch event where Colorado College students presented their project idea before a panel of five judges in order to compete for $50,000 in funding towards the project. The panel reviewed the project ideas based on financial stability, effect on quality of life, feasibility and presentation, and the potential impact of the project on the world. In this video clip, entrepreneurs Mike Curran and Brennan O'Connell present their Big Idea, Hydraulic Jump.
"Noticing a trend in the relevance of water issues in the west and an increase in the frequency of these issues coming into public light, we want to create a medium (in the form of a website) in which to organize, compile, and present these issues to the public in a clear, easy to navigate way. The main goal of the organization is to educate people on the subject of water issues in the west - people who know nothing about the current situations and those who have a prior knowledge but are looking to understand more. This educational website would provide unbiased information covering a wide breadth and depth of issues focused around water management and how it is affected by factors such as policy changes, management strategies, and of course, climate change."--Business proposal
