Moxie [2011-2012 Block 8]

by Mulligan-Buckmiller, Kenzie, Johnson, Savannah

A magazine created by Colorado College students as part of the course, FG200 Introduction to Feminist Thought, taught by Assistant Professor Heidi Lewis during Block 8, 2012.

“Our magazine attempts to make girls think critically about the world that they are part of and to reexamine how they view the media they are constantly subjected to. This edition of Moxie examines the idea of purity and how society values it and how the media presents it. It also looks at different products for menstruation in an attempt to normalize a natural phenomenon that occurs in the body. Moxie hopes to prove to girls that they are beautiful the way they are and to value the world that they are part of.”--from our Editor, Alexis Sommerfield

Articles include: Still a Belieber? Justin Bieber's controversial statements on sex and rape -- Advice from 8 college feminists -- Purity: political or personal? Exploring the "purity myth" -- Personalizing your period: menstruation throughout the years -- Moxie art.
